2009 Julia Zelmanovich Young Aumni Award
Trever G. Bivona, M.D., Ph.D. ’05
For serving as a role model in the pursuit of knowledge and experience, while demonstrating loyalty to the profession, compassionate manner dedicated spirit, and an inquiring mind.
Trever G. Bivona earned his BS in molecular biology from
Trever’s research while at NYU focused on determining the role of subcellular localization on signaling by Ras GTPases, and the role of phosphorylation of K-Ras on these processes. At present, his research focuses on elucidating the molecular pathways of oncogene dependence.
Trever has taught medical physiology and patient-doctor sessions at NYU and at Harvard. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Trever has authored ten peer-reviewed publications, as well as five book chapters and reviews. He has received the American Heart Association Undergraduate Research Award, the Pfizer Undergraduate Research Award, the Vanderbilt University Research Excellence Award, the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program Award, the NYU Outstanding Medical Science Writing Award, and holds a patent for the Prenyl-electrostatic Switch.
Already in this early stage of his career, Trever has made significant contributions to the advancement of medical science. Therefore it is with great pleasure and pride that we present Trever G. Bivona, Class of 2005, with the Julia Zelmanovich Young Alumni Award.
