  • Howard E. Takiff '76 was unable to attend the Celebration of the Achievements of Saul J. Farber, M.D. '42 in late February but told us "Thank you for the invitation, but as I live and work in Caracas, Venezuela, it would be difficult to attend.  Dr. Farber remains one of the most impressive people I've ever met, and only this week, while driving my commute, I was recalling the few interactions I had with him, all of which are still vivid.  The most impressive part about Dr. Farber was not just his smarts, knowledge base, or judgment, all of which seemed extraordinary, but his caring, not only for the patients, but also for the students and residents..... Twenty years after leaving NYU, I attended a topoisomerase meeting and saw Dr. Farber in the cafeteria.  He looked at me as if he recognized me, and would have welcomed my greetings.  Ever since, I have regretted that I was too shy to approach and tell him how central he was in my image of the model physician.  I'm sure this is a biased, sentimentalized remembrance based on a few interactions that excludes a fuller picture of Dr. Farber, but that's my myth and I thank him for it."
  • David Vilabrera '77 shares, "my two children are adults - my son is in South Korea teaching English, and my daughter is finishing up college.  I am looking forward to going to South Africa with my karate school for an upcoming tournament there - I have been to Japan twice and had a great time when I went."
