  • Gary Giangola '80, '76WSC became Chief of Vascular Surgery and Associate Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Staten Island University Hospital on May 1, 2008.
  • Samuel H. Selesnick '85, Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology and Professor of Otolaryngology in Neurological Surgery at the Weill Cornell Medical College, and a member of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, has been elected President - Elect of the American Neurotology Society and will begin serving as President in May 2009.  The American Neurotology Society is the largest specialty organization of neurotologists - skull base surgeons in the United States.  
  • Eeremy R. Geffen '86 is a board-certified medical oncologist, a pioneer in integrative medicine and oncology, and founder of Geffen Visions International.  He also serves as Director of integrative oncology for P4 Healthcare and Caring4Cancer.com.  Dr. Geffen is author of the book, The Journey Through Cancer: Healing and Transforming the Whole Person, and has more than 30 years of experience exploring the great spiritual and healing traditions of the world.  In April he gave a weekend workshop in Boulder, Colorado and a four day retreat in Unity Village, Missouri on The Journey Through Cancer & The Seven Levels of Healing for people living with cancer, their loved ones, friends and health professionals. 
  • Loren J. Harris '87 became Chairman of Surgery and Director of Thoracic Surgery at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York in June 2008.
  • Hernando Garzon '88 has been appointed Medical Director of the Sacramento County Emergency Medical Services Agency, where his responsibilities will include providing medical direction for over 2,500 paramedics, nurses, and emergency medical technicians.  Dr. Garzon has worked as an emergency physician for the past 16 years at Kaiser Permanente's Sacramento and Roseville emergency departments. 
  • Dara P. Richardson-Heron '89 became the first CEO of the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure on June 2, 2008.  She is the first physician and African-American in the post.  "The Board is thrilled to have a person of Dr. Richardson-Heron's caliber leading Komen Greater NYC to the next level," said Blythe Masters, Chair of the Board of Directors.  "Dara's background and expertise, as well as her medical training, will help us build on the growth we experienced last year.
