  • In-Kyu Yoon '93 is Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, serving as Assistant Chief, Department of Virology Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS) in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Lance H. Brown '94, '90WSC has expanded his Manhattan dermatology practice to include an office in Wainscott, New York, citing increasing demand for a higher level of dermatologic treatment in the Hamptons.  He is one of the few physicians in New York who perform cosmetic surgery using Fraxel laser technology.  He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at NYU School of Medicine.
  • Jeffrey A. Manko, HS/Resident Alumni Internal Medicine '95, Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, has been appointed Director of the Residency Program within the Department of Emergency Medicine at NYU.  Dr. Manko was in his previous position of Associate Residency Director for the past six years.  He is the Chair of the Bellevue House Staff Affairs Committee, a career advisor in the Masters Scholars Program in the school of medicine, and a member of the GME committee as well as the policy and curriculum subcommittees.
  • Michael I. Ebright '97 has been appointed to the position of surgeon in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Boston Medical Center and will be recommended for Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine.  Dr. Ebright completed his general surgery residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.  Dr. Ebright's surgical expertise is in thoracic surgery.  His clinical interests include video-assisted thorascopic surgery, a relatively new approach to pulmonary lobectomy.  This minimally invasive surgical technique offers patients with early stage I lung cancer the possibility of a more rapid and less painful recovery from surgery.  Prior to his appointments, Dr. Ebright completed a fellowship in thoracic surgical oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.  Dr. Ebright has been a contributor to several books, and is a member of the American Board of Surgery.
  • Chris E. Lascarides '97, '93WSC tells us "I will be starting my position at SUNY Stony Brook in late May 2008.  I will have the title Assistant Professor of Medicine.  It is a 20% academic, 80% clinical position with teaching responsibilities for medical students, residents and fellows.  It will likely also involve some clinical research studies as well."
  • Aliya G. Hasan '98, Assistant Professor in the division of Gastroenterology at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, has created a women-only colonoscopy clinic allowing her to offer her care to women at University of Colorado Hospital every Monday morning.  The Women-Only Colonoscopy Clinic was created to ensure a safe, comfortable environment in which women can be screened for colon cancer.  The physician doing the procedure and the nurse in the endoscopy room are both women so that a female patient can have the option of having her procedure done without embarrassment. Studies suggest that most women prefer the idea of a female colonoscopist and will wait longer and even pay to have their procedure done by a woman.  "Colon cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death and women are at as much risk for it as men," said Dr. Hasan.  "Colon cancer has been referred to as the 'silent killer' because it usually does not cause any symptoms until it is quite advanced.  That is why it is vitally important for women to be screened and to have a place to go where they feel comfortable to do so."
  • Dana E. Siracuse-Lee '98, has been appointed to the position of Attending Physician in the Department of Cornea and Comprehensive Ophthalmology Services at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Boston University School of Medicine.  Dr. Siracuse-Lee completed her residency at the Harkness Eye Institute at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.  She also completed a fellowship in cornea and cataract external diseases of the eye at the Johns Hopkins University Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.  Dr. Siracuse-Lee's medical expertise is in corneal surgery, the surgical treatment of mild to moderate nearsightedness.  Her clinical interests include anterior autoimmune disease of the eye, as well as corneal transplantation and cataract surgery. She tells us, "My husband, Henri Lee '97, and I recently moved up here to Boston in September 2007 after the birth of our second child to join the faculty here at BMC.  He is in the Department of Medicine.  We are both enjoying our new positions very much.  One of my third year residents, Irene M. Lee '04, is also an NYU alum, and we often compare our Bellevue and BMC experiences."
