LEONARD S. ROSEN, M.D., Class of 1958
Following a rotating internship and a year of Internal Medicine residency in Buffalo, I completed a Radiology residency at the Bronx VA, moved to northern NJ and entered a two man hospital and office practice in General Radiology. I remained in this practice, which subsequently grew to seven associates, for 31 years, retiring at the end of 1995.
For the first 10 years, I practiced both Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Therapy. However, as our practice and our hospital grew, I moved to full time hospital diagnostic practice and was Director of the Division of Radiology for many years. During this time I served terms as president of the New Jersey State Radiology Society and as president of the General Active Staff at my hospital.
My wife of 52 years, Adelaide, raised our three children while pursuing her interest in theater, performing in numerous local productions as well as writing and directing many plays. She was also the administrator of a fitness and rehabilitation facility in which we were principals.
Never an athlete, I enjoyed jogging, hiking and biking. For many years we bareboated in the Caribbean and traveled extensively. Photography was an important hobby and I spent many hours working in my darkroom- today, I sit at a computer.
Our son, Mark, has followed his writing muse while tutoring SAT students. Our other son, Mitchell, a professor at RIT, holds real and virtual classes, is the Color Imaging Editor of the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology and travels the world lecturing in his field. Our daughter, Robin, has utilized her degree in nursing in diverse areas. She has served as practice coordinator for a group of interventional cardiologists at Yale and as medical liaison for an information technology company. She presently is evaluating cases, recommending action and preparing briefs for a malpractice defense legal firm.
Four wonderful and talented grandchildren complete our family circle and keep us young.
Addie and I spend about seven months away from our home in NJ, wintering on the west coast of Fl. where Addie plays tennis, watches birds and pursues her acting with a non profit arm of a professional regional theater.
We travel less than in the past but recently enjoyed a most enlightening trip to China. I no longer jog but do bike; play at playing golf badly; take beginning bridge classes yet again; attend myriad lectures, some of whose topics I can recall. I am a birdwatcher "watcher"; tutor remedial reading at a middle school and wait for the sun to be over the yardarm.
Addie and I look forward to attending this reunion.
